Initial map settings
What do you want for the map?
Presumably we are starting a new game on a new map and building some kind of ultra mega base from there. However we have to decide on the map settings. If you haven't played Factorio in a while, 0.17 is now out and stable and contains far more map tweaking settings than before.
Add a section below with some of your proposals and we'll try to build consensus on this page.
First of all, no cliffs. Cliffs are dumb and a waste of time.

Second of all, we might want to turn down biters in some respect. To be clear, I think they should be on. But maybe lower evolution rate or less spreading (or both)?
- Initially, I thought we should keep the default rates or even up them slightly, but I think it would be more fun to focus on building cool stuff rather than fighting intruders. Is it possible to change these settings after we've started? If so, then that leaves us some room to change things later. Bradley (talk) 23:37, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
Otherwise, I would prefer a map without too much water, with slightly increased frequency, size, and richness on deposits (like 150% for each).
